The Samsung Galaxy S9 is the new flagship device offering from the Samsung in the Indian market. The main focus is on the design and the hardware of the device. The screen size of 5.8inchs Super AMOLED infinity display (18.5:9 aspect ratio) with a resolution of 2960×1440 pixels. It has a single rear camera of 12MP and an 8MP front facing camera. The wireless charging support and face recognition to unlock the phone. The Galaxy S9 is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance and is protected with Gorilla glass 5 on either sides of the device.


When it comes to its design it has 18.5:9 aspect ratio screen of 5.8inch super AMOLED infinity display. The panel has a resolution of 1440×2960 pixels. The metal and glass combination looks immaculate. On the rear glass that catches the light as you turn the phone around in your hands. The only problem with this design is that both the front and rear are extremely slippery to hold securely. On the top it has the SIM card slot. On the rear side there is a 12MP rear camera with LED flash. Below it has the fingerprint sensor which is very fast and accurate. On the right side we have the power key whereas on the left, there are volume rockers and a dedicated bixby button. At the bottom it has a USB Type-C port, a speaker grille, and a 3.5mm audio jack at the top.


On the front it has a 5.8inch quad HD+ super AMOLED infinity display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio and resolution of 2960×1440 pixels with a 2.5D curved glass which has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. There’s also an 8MP front camera, earpiece and at the bottom it has on-screen navigation buttons.

The display is very crisp and clear even under bright sunlight. Color reproduction is accurate and sharp too. The wide viewing angles and there’s an always-on mode that lets you see the time and notifications when the phone is in standby.


The phone features a single rear camera of 12MP. The key upgrade is the fact that the sensor can now switch between an aperture of f/1.5 (for great low-light shots) and f/2.4 (for better brighter scenes), while improving the intelligence of the sensor so that it can analyze and improve your images more effectively. And the 8MP front facing camera performance is great even under low light.

On the video front it supports 4K videos recording at 30fps. The video quality is great and you can take slow motion videos with 960 fps.

Processor, Memory and Battery:

The device is powered by the Exynos 9810 octa core processor, which is clocked at 2.7ghz and ARM Heimdall MP18 GPU with 4 GB of RAM/ 64GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM/256GB of storage.

In terms of performance, it runs effortlessly, playing heavy graphics games was pleasant there were no noticeable lag while multitasking.

When it comes to the battery it is powered by 3000mAh Lithium-ion battery, it lasted for roughly a day hours with moderate usage.

Software, Connectivity and Sensors:

The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with Samsung’s custom skin on top which has a lot of options.

The device has a hybrid dual-SIM design which means you have to choose between using two Nano-SIMs or one Nano-SIM and a micro SD card. It also has support for VoLTE. However, only one slot can be used for 4G, while the other slot will be restricted to 2G. You get GPS, A-GPS, USB OTG, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and 3.5 mm audio jack for connectivity and NFC support.

In the sensors department it has all the basic required sensors like, Fingerprint sensor, Ambient light sensors, Proximity sensor, Gravity sensor and compass sensor.

Our opinion on Galaxy S9:

The Samsung galaxy S9 is a great device with stunning design, with plenty of modes and features to play around. The top notch build quality and with impressive specifications. The camera performs well even in low lighting conditions which is the USP of this device Overall it is a well-rounded package with decent battery life.
