Nokia 6.1 Plus was launched in May 2018 & runs on Android 8.1 OS. Nokia 6.1 Plus has a top-notch display and a large 5.8-inch Full FD Plus display with 19:9 Aspect ratio. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 processor and Adreno 509 GPU coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage expandable via a microSD card slot upto 400GB. The smartphone has a dual rear camera 16 MP+ 5MP and a 16MP front selfie camera with support for artificial intelligence and is backed by a 3,060 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus is available in three color options i.e. Black/Copper, White/Iron, Blue/Gold & has a built in fingerprint sensor as the primary security feature, along with the host of connectivity options in terms of 3G, 4G, GPS, Wifi, NFC Bluetooth capabilities. Priced at Rs. 15,999, it competes head-on with the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi Mi A2.


When it comes to the design it has an aluminium alloy rear body with glass on top and sports an aluminum frame. On the left of the Nokia 6.1 Plus is blank save for the SIM tray, which makes you choose between a second Nano-SIM and a microSD card. The right side has the volume rocker and power button which are chunky, tactile, and well within reach.

The dual-camera setup is placed in a pill-shaped housing, underneath which is a circular fingerprint sensor and a vertically oriented Nokia logo. There’s a single loudspeaker next to the USB Type-C port at the bottom, and a 3.5mm audio jack at the top.


On the front it has a large 5.8-inch 19:9 aspect ratio FHD+ IPS LCD notch display with a resolution of 2280 pixels by 1080 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches. There’s also a 16MP front camera placed in the notch. The display is very crisp and clear even under bright sunlight. Colors are vibrant, viewing angles are excellent, and the phone doesn’t have any issues with sunlight legibility.

Nokia 6.1 Plus has a 16-megapixel primary camera with an aperture of f/2.0, alongside a 5-megapixel monochrome secondary camera with an aperture of f/2.4 and other features like touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR. On the front, the Nokia 6.1 Plus has a 16-megapixel fixed-focus camera with an aperture of f/2.0. There is a dual-LED flash at the back.

The rear camera performed quite well. Images had a good amount of detail Even shots taken in favourable lighting indoors were crisp and detailed. Low-light performance was a bit of a mixed bag. The level of detail was adequate but the camera struggled with autofocus at times.

Processor, Memory and Battery:

The device is powered by a octa-core Snapdragon 636 processor clocked at 1.8Ghz Cortex-A53 and Adreno 509 GPU, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage expandable via a microSD card slot to 256GB.

In terms of performance, the phone is capable of handling most day to day tasks such as browsing Internet, messaging, and making calls. The UI was generally buttery smooth and at times overly responsive. The fingerprint sensor on the back panel is also very responsive and feels like has been borrowed from a flagship.

Android One makes Nokia 6.1 Plus a no-nonsense smartphone. There’s no bloatware on the device and animations are snappy as ever. When it comes to the battery Powering the Nokia 6.1 Plus is a 3060mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with fast charging support.

Software, Connectivity, and Sensors:

The device runs on stock build of Android 8.1 Oreo which is upgradable to Android 9.0 Pie updates.

On the connectivity front you will get dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5, FM radio, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C (USB 2.0), and a 3.5mm headphone jack. This phone supports dual SIMs (Nano) and both can simultaneously work on 4G networks.

Sensors on the phone include Compass/ Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope

Our Opinion on Nokia 6.1 Plus:

The Nokia 6.1 Plus offers great performance, clean and fluid software, a punchy and vibrant display, and the promise of timely updates. Nokia 6.1 Plus is ideal if you’re looking for a compact phone with premium design and is available in the country for just ₹15,999.
